MISSION
Our mission is to reveal, support, develop and promote indigenous photographers from the majority world* whilst also making it easier for image buyers and the general public worldwide to access their work. As a result of our activities majority world photographers will be better able to compete commercially and gain a fairer share of the global image market. We will also contribute to a better balanced and more informed perception of the developing world.
*The majority world is a more accurate way of describing what has been known as the developing world, the third world or the global South.
SUMMARY
These pages will describe our mission and our ethical position. They will also give information on our legal status as a Community Interest Company, the different people involved in our project and how to make contact with them
“Upwards of 90%of the images of the majority world* that are seen in the western media are produced by white photographers from the USA or Europe. This results in a one dimensional view often driven by a negative news agenda or the need to raise money.” Dave Clark, Senior Lecturer in Photography, Bolton Institute, UK |
